The shortest day of 2024, Dec. 21, is just around the corner, marking the end of fall and the official start of winter.
The winter solstice marks the shortest day of the year or the longest night.
The Sun is at its lowest daily maximum elevation in the sky due to the earth’s poles reaching maximum tilt
away from the sun.
The word “solstice” is derived from the Latin words “sol” (sun) and “sistere” (to stand). In other words,
“The day the sun stands still.”
The winter solstice is a time to celebrate the natural world.
It’s a time to reflect within on what the new season and new year will bring you.
